An arrangement that is difficult to leave is not an arrangement worth entering.
Lock-in is a substitute for being worth keeping. We would rather be kept because the work is good, so every engagement is structured so you can walk away with everything intact.
What this means, precisely.
- All tenancies, domains, licences, hosting accounts and code repositories are established in your name, with you as owner and OTW as delegated administrator.
- Your data, documents, templates and records are yours at all times, without qualification and without condition as to payment.
- Administrative access transfers to a nominated party within five business days of a written request, at any point, for any reason.
- The repository sits in your own account from the first commit.
- Ongoing services are rolling monthly on 30 days notice. No minimum term.
Why we publish this.
It is the question you should be asking
Anyone can promise a good outcome. The harder question is what happens on the worst day of the relationship — whether the systems your business now depends on are actually yours, and how quickly you can take them elsewhere.
Custody is the point of the work
The templates, pricing and records that carry a business are the most valuable things it has. An engagement that puts them somewhere you cannot reach has failed at the first requirement, whatever else it delivered.
It survives us
A studio is a small number of people. Your operating environment should not depend on any of them still being available. Everything is documented so that a competent third party can pick it up.
Ask us the exit question.
We will answer it in writing before you commit to anything.
